If you haven’t, this is the result of the 10-15 pounds of fat that men put on when they have their first kid.


Embarrassingly, I went through this back in the spring when my first daughter was born…


The first month was crazy.


I’m not sure if you’ve been through having your first child, but let me tell ya, it was a lot more work and a lot more stressful than I was prepared for…


I knew it was going to be tough, but I still figured I’d live a pretty regular life and keep my normal routines…


I was wrong.


Very little sleep can throw off a lot of things, and the first thing to go was my time at the gym.


I used to get to the gym on average 5 times per week before my baby girl was born…


The first month after she was born: twice total - for two halfass workouts.


Not only that, my nutrition went to shit as well.


Take out food and delivery was our food of choice for the first month.


The consequence?


I gained some fat, lost some strength, and noticed I was slower and less explosive for my men’s league games.


My hockey game started to struggle, and that’s when I knew I had to get back to my regular training.


Thankfully things got a little bit back to normal - our baby was in a better routine, she was happier and my wife was a rockstar taking care of her so I could get back into a better routine myself.

Things Had To Change... 

With work being as busy as ever, and my baby girl going down to sleep early in the evening, I knew I wouldn’t be able to get to the gym 5 times per week and still spend quality time with my daughter.

Although things are going great right now, I had a bit of a rough go as a kid playing hockey.


I was cut from the local AAA team year after year.
